I’ve always been credited with a rich imagination, but I find its limit in trying to imagine life without painting. It’s my ever-present impulse to interpret the beauty I see around me.

Impressionism is the genre most associated with my work, and it certainly informs my approach to color. I find it impossible to stay beholden to any one genre or technique. I have always had a bent toward classical themes and imagery, yet ever following the spark where it guides me, approaching each inspiration as a new challenge, always building on the gift of the idea brought forth. I am a relentless experimenter when I paint, considering each piece as an exploration, always willing to pursue my curiosity in a painting. Win some, lose some (about a third of my paintings are trashed at some point), but the losers have always taught me more and brought more growth than the “winners”. I HAVE to take risks when I paint and that has brought me to places I am so grateful to have been!
